Historical Note:

The Baton Rouge/Lafayette District of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church was formed in 1977.  The congregations that constituted the district had previously been assigned to other districts: Baton Rouge District of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church and the Lafayette District of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church.

In 1978, the district reported 16,762 members.  The district consisted of congregations in southeast Louisiana stretching from Lettsworth (north) to Pecan Island (south) and Kaplan (west) to Baton Rouge (east).

In 1989, the Baton Rouge/Lafayette District of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church was dissolved.  The congregations that constituted the district were assigned to other districts: Baton Rouge District of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church and the Acadiana District of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church.
