Historical Note:

The Chaplain’s Office at Centenary College of Louisiana has origins in earlier administrative staff positions such as the Director of Religious Activities (title used approximately 1954-1961) and the Minister to the Campus (title used approximately 1961-1968).  The chaplain has traditionally been responsible for coordinating religious programs on campus, directing the Methodist Student Movement, and counseling students and staff.  In some instances, the chaplain has served as a faculty member in the Religious Studies Department (previously known as the Religion Department).

Centenary chaplains and their years of service include: Webb Pomeroy (approximately 1954-1956), James McLean (approximately 1957-1959), Rev. Don Guynes (approximately 1960-1961), Dr. Robert Ed Taylor (1961-1996), Rev. Jayne Trammell-Kelly (1997-1999), Rev. Jack O’Dell (1999-2001), Rev. Betsy Eaves (2002-2013), Rev. Valerie Robideaux (2013-2015), Maegan Habich (2016-).
