Historical Note:

James Francis Pierson (1903-1950) was born in Coushatta, Louisiana.  He attended Centenary College of Louisiana from 1922-1926, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.  While in college, Pierson played on the football, basketball, and baseball teams.  He was also a member of the Alpha Iota Chapter of the Kappa Alpha fraternity.

In 1928, Pierson was appointed to serve as assistant principal at Morgan City High School in Morgan City, Louisiana.  Later, he was in charge of the Black-topping Division of the Louisiana Highway Commission.  He was also the organizer and principal owner of the Pierson Construction Company which built roads throughout Louisiana.  Pierson also served as a partner in the real estate firm of J. F. and W. H. Pierson of Natchitoches.  In 1947, he became a co-owner of KWCJ radio station in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with his brothers, Will H. and Clint L. Pierson.

Pierson married Lucille D’Aquin and had two sons, James F. Pierson, Jr. and Robert Griffin Pierson.
